All The News That’s Fit To Wrap Fish In
* The Sunfield Area Sponsors of Programs for Youth would like to acknowledge some recent
contributions to the Scholarship Fund. They came in from the following fine folks---

* Attention all SPY's and anyone else interested in lending a hand! The final Adopt-A-
Highway trash pick-up of the season will take place on Saturday, September 12th. We will
be meeting at the Sunfield IGA parking lot at 9 AM. The SPY's pick-up trash along M-43
from Round Lake Road on the west side of town to Shaytown Road on the east side of town
three times a year in conjunction with a Michigan Department of Transportation program.
With eight people it takes just about a half an hour. With more, it's even faster. For more
information call our project chairman, Scott McWhorter (566-7377). See you there!
* The Calendars are in! The Calendars are in! The 40th. annual edition of the Sunfield Area SPY's "Community Celebration Calendar" is in! If you placed an order for one, it will be coming your way soon, if it hasn't been delivered already. If you didn't get your order in but would like to get one of these great community building / kid's programs supporting items, just contact project chairman Rosie Best at 566-8858, or you can pick one up at the Sunfield IGA.

* The other day I was in the Sunfield IGA picking up some things when I heard Momma Spitz calling across the store, “Little Spitz! Little Spitz!”. I turned the corner in the bargain aisle and there was Little Spitz checking out some “treasures”. “Didn’t you hear your mother call?”, I asked. “Yes”, he replied. “Well, aren’t you going to go to her?” He calmly shook his head and said, “She’s not hysterical yet.”

* FACTOID #2---Americans under age 35 spend 19.7 cents of every dollar they earn on debt payments.
* Louie “Trouble-Shooter” Trowbridge’s Solution-Of-The-Week: Each vehicle reaches its optimal fuel economy at a different speed (or range of speeds), gas mileage usually decreases rapidly at speeds above 60 mph. As a rule of thumb, you can assume that each 5 mph you drive over 60 mph is like paying an additional 20 cents per gallon for gas.
* Recently, former local professional golfer Jimmy Z was giving his wife her first golf lesson. Mrs. Z, being a school teacher, wanted to make sure she fully understood every aspect of the game. When they were practicing on the putting green she asked, "Is the word spelled p-u-T, or p-u-T-T?'' "p-u-T-T is correct,'' he replied. "PUT means to place a thing where you want it. PUTT means merely a vain attempt to do the same thing.
